The if else statement

When this construct is used, it executes the statements within the ‘if’ block provided the condition mentioned inside the ‘if’ statement is true. On the other hand, if the expression returns false, the statements inside the else block will be executed. The syntax of this construct is as follows –

if (expression){

//Statements to be executed if the expression returns true

}

else{

//Statements to be executed if the expression returns false

}

Sample code to illustrate the working of this conditional construct is given below.

<html>

<body>

<script type="text/javascript">

<!--

var i = 5;

if( i > 10 ){

document.write("<b>Inside If!</b>");

}

else{

document.write("<b>Inside else!</b>");

}

//-->

</script>

<p>Set the variable to different value and then try...</p>

</body>

</html>

Upon execution, this code gives the following result –
